He squeezed her hand tighter as they reached the barn. She had a momentary thought of what is he nervous about, then quickly smirked the thought away. There wasn’t a sense of nervousness between them. There never has been. Come to think of it.. there wasn’t even the giddy butterflies. That thought calmed her completely. “Are you ready?” He whispered next to her ear. She grinned, “Yes sir.” As the doors began to open, her eyes followed the trail of petals to a candle lit dinner for just the two of them.
He led her to the table and went to pull out her chair when she pulled him back to her. He slid his arms around her waist and looked down in her eyes while carefully tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. The music was soft but she heard the words……..
“Let it fade to black
Let me run my fingers down your back”
It was that song. The song. The song that describes how it all should be. How it is. The music was still playing. She felt him begin to move their bodies. Just as the chorus hit, He spun her around and pulled her close, squeezing tighter. That made her grin. She began to think of the words. “Strip it down, strip it down. Back to you and me like it used to be.”
What is it to strip down? Strip down and let everything go. Letting your guard down, allowing the person to see every side of you completely. The good, the bad, and the ugly. To be vulnerable, opening up and laying it all out on the table right then. No secrets, No regrets. Strip it down and bare your heart and soul. Strip it down and let all of the past go. He leaned in close again, the bridge of his nose touching the top of her forehead… “I think the dinner will have to wait”
“Strip it down, down, down
Strip it down, down, down”
