He closed the door quietly and walked up to her best friend curled up on the couch as always with a book and coffee. “Hello Charlotte,” He smiled as he leaned down and kissed her cheek. “Hey you. How did you sneak in?” She replied with a giggle. He ignored her question knowing she knew that answer already as he looked out the window. “Where is she?” “She went for a walk on the beach. Does she know you were coming?” He grinned as Charlotte picked up her book over her mouth and laughed quietly. “And the little one?” Charlotte lowered her book and pointed through the open door, “Just in there. She passed out just a while ago.” He walked over, peeked in and smiled. “I’ll be just a moment Charlotte. It is good to see you,” he leaned down wrapping his arm around her shoulder, hugging her quickly and headed toward the patio. “Take your time!” Charlotte exclaimed as softly as she could, shook her head giggling, and curled back up with her book. He walked out the door and spotted her next to the shower. He assumed she was going to wash the sand off her feet so he stopped to see. She walked in and he heard the water begin. He grinned as he knew he could surprise her now.
The water felt refreshingly cool against her skin as it fell around her. She gently stroked her arms up and down, brushing the sand off, then mimicked with her feet. It had been a fun week, Just the three of them, however her thoughts were with another. She smiled and leaned back under the shower, closing her eyes letting the water rush down her face. What was it about him that was so…. different? She still couldn’t place it and probably never will. “Just enjoy it Addy”… The words of her best friend rang through her mind and she shook her head at herself, ‘She’s right….. What the….’. She felt a hand gently touch her side. She knew that touch. He traced along her waist, following her curves and walked around to face her. She reached up and traced his jaw, then down his chest following the ripple of the water. “Well hello. What brings you here?” She playfully asked. “You” was the only reply she heard as he pulled her in closer, breathing against her hair, taking her in. She jumped suddenly remembering their surroundings. “Cady…” She whispered. “She is sleeping soundly,” He spoke in low tone. “And Charlotte?” “Reading, of course.” She nodded and laid against his chest, then let out a long, soft sigh. It was only them and she kinda liked it that way.
